50 minutes. Premieres in March 2027 at Hazira Theater, then enters the theater’s permanent repertoire.
The Barn is a performance set within a medieval barn. One evening, we gather together, the actors, the narrator, the objects, and the audience, in a circle, listening to a tale.
It tells of two serfs returning from a day’s work in the fields, a rotting pig’s head, the plague bacterium resting upon its skin, a wind that is both breeze and a motivation, wheat stalks acting as a choir, rape, plague, identity theft… All of these coexist within a closed loop, a symbiotic ecosystem of theatrical elements and imagery that feed and rely on one another. This is an attempt to meet the audience in an intimate format, located inside the theatrical scene to question the local community and the perspective through which we perceive one another and our environment.
