On the Doorstep was co-curated by myself alongside the artist Maya Schiff and the accompaniment of the curator Anna Wild. Serving as the opening event for the season of “The Living Gallery,” it is an exhibition that is a performance about and upon the doorstep itself. The moment before entering, the small ritual of transition, the hesitation between here and there. We gathered a collective of young artists for one evening to present their plastic and performative works. After graduation, trying to develop our careers, pausing because of a war, a pandemic, another war.
We invited to meet before the season started, to position ourselves outside of it, to place the works we created during these recent years of war, gazing orphaned and terrified at the closed and dusty gallery doors.
